According to the included laminated capture papers dated September, 15, 1945, this pistol was a war trophy belonging to Pfc. James C. Baker. The pistol is fitted with checkered Walther banner wraparound grip which is period marked "J.C. BAKER" on the left side. It has the standard Walther legend on the left side of the slide with Nazi commercial "eagle/N" proofs on the chamber, slide, and barrel and an "eagle/C" police acceptance mark stamped on the left side of the frame below the magazine release button. The serial number is marked on the slide and frame.

Condition: Very good. The slide retains 95% original blue finish taking on a purple hue on the flat sides and some minor thinning. The frame retains 97% purple hued blue finish showing thinning on the front grip strap. Most of the blue finish remains on the trigger guard. There is some minor spotting and pitting. The grip is fine with some minor handling marks. The checkering is crisp overall.
