Polar Explorers Group Lot. (5 Items) Polar Explorers Group Lot.
Polar Explorers Group Lot. This lot features five items signed by legendary Polar explorers. The first is a 4" x 1.5" card signed: "Frederick A. Cook." Cook was an Arctic explorer with a somewhat tarnished reputation. He claimed to have reached the North Pole before Peary but this was never proven. Second, we feature a 8.5" x 3.5" sheet of paper signed by James Booth Lockwood. He signs, "J.B. Lockwood." Lockwood was part of the ill-fated Greely Expedition in 1881. He performed several noteworthy feats while on the expedition before perishing along with the rest of the crew. Third, we offer a typed letter signed by Richard Byrd as "R.E. Byrd." It measures 8.5" x 11", dated March 16, 1938. Byrd is, of course, known for his polar expeditions and flights. Next we offer two cards with Richard Byrd's signature on them. They both measure 5" x 3" and are signed: "R.E. Byrd." All five items are in Fine condition; no visible issues except for a few pencil notations on the front of the items. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
