two octagonal poker chips, one in bone with Dexter Saloon / 25 / Nome hand-engraved on both sides and a similar chip with 50 instead of 25 and stained red. Both are matted and framed with a copy of a photograph of the main street of Nome showing a couple hundred men outside the Dexter Saloon. Also framed with the chips is a letter from Lee Silva, author of Wyatt Earp: A Biography of the Legend, Vol. I, The Cowtown Years, among many other qualifications, giving his reasons why the $25 chip is authentic, not a later reproduction.

After his "gun fighting days" were over, Wyatt and Josephine Earp moved around, spending time in Colorado, Idaho, California, and Texas before joining the Klondike gold rush in Alaska in 1897. With a partner, Wyatt built the Dexter Saloon in 1899, the first two-story building in town, and, as the photo indicates, it flourished. He sold out in 1901 and returned to California, $85,000 richer.

Exceptionally rare souvenirs of the Klondike gold rush and Wyatt Earp's most successful business endeavor.

Condition: Not removed from frame for examination.
