In a letter to his cousin datelined Kensington, London, 7 July 1879, he writes, ''...I've had a very pleasant visit from your husband. I hope you will find the dear mother still able to greet you on your return. Please give her my true love. Yours most truly, George MacDonald''. Runs 2pp. on a single sheet of card-style mourning stationery measuring 4.5'' x 7''. Mounted to paper to an overall size of 6.5'' x 8.25''. Creasing and mounting, else near fine.
