Dinner plate from the final official dinner held in President Kennedy's honor. Four days before his assassination, this navy blue plate was used at the 18 November 1963 dinner at the Hotel Americana in Miami, Florida, hosted by the Inter American Press Association's 19th Annual Assembly. Dinner plate features a gilt rim and gilt presidential seal at the center, encircled by 14 coats of arms, each representing a member state of the IAPA. Plate underside is stamped ''Syracuse / China / 93-G U.S.A.'' Accompanied by a copy of the speech on Cuba that Kennedy delivered that night, reading in part, ''...Castroism, which a few years ago commanded the allegiance of thousands in almost every country, today has far fewer followers...the promises of abundance under tyranny are false...'' Plate measures 10.5'' in diameter. Near fine. With provenance from the event's catering manager Louis Ronco, with a copy of the newspaper article about Ronco and the dinner, and a photo of the Grand Ballroom of the Americana taken before the dinner showing one of these plates at each setting.
