Plaster Fresco Presented to Al Worden by the Pope (framed to 30.5x37.5 ) A striking and unusual work
Plaster Fresco Presented to Al Worden by the Pope (framed to 30.5x37.5") A striking and unusual work of art in a gray velvet frame blessed by the Pope and presented to Al Worden by the Pope during the crew's post-flight visit to the Vatican in 1971. The actual artwork consists of a brown/white rectangular sculptured ceramic plate (11.5x19") on which are mounted a gray/gold dove and angel. The consigner says that it was explained to the crew that this was a part of the frieze from Saint Peter's Basilica. The dove and angel are in similar flight as the command module and the lunar module during lunar orbit. The Vatican is home to some of the finest art treasures in the world. This piece may, with research, prove to be one of them. A "Worden" certificate of authenticity is included. Ex: the Al Worden collection
