The lot features an early Plains Native American Indian Spontoon Pipe Tomahawk from the 19th Century. The piece shows a traditional carved wood haft with excellent file burns covering the entirety of the piece. The haft also shows brass covered iron trade tacks. The pipe tomahawk shows a forged iron head with Revolutionary War Spontoon blade style. The piece was most likely presented to the owner for the agreement of a treaty or other important event. The piece shows a tall thin bowl and is a working pipe. The tomahawk has a unique padre blue and greasy yellow glass trade seed beaded scalp drop with long dark hair, brass trade bell, red mineral paint, chevron trade bead, and hair pipe beads. Provenance: The piece comes from a Native American Indian collection in Hendersonville, North Carolina. The piece measures 25”L with a 10 3/8”x2 5/8” and 1.5” thick tomahawk head.
