For your consideration is this Plains Indians fire hardened digging stick or yam stick. This is a good example of a primitive digging stick which is a wooden implement used primarily by subsistence-based cultures to dig out underground food such as roots and tubers or burrowing animals and anthills. The stick may also have other uses in hunting or general domestic tasks. This digging stick shows a knotted hardwood construction that has been fire hardened and sharpened to a cone like point.

The condition of this digging stick is good with a slight chip to the top of the handle but otherwise shows good display condition. The measurements of this digging stick are 14" x 7" x 1 1/2".
