The lot features a very scarce Model 1857/67 “Zulu” Fabrique d'Armes, Liege, an 1857 French muzzle loading musket converted to a 12 gauge shotgun with "Tabatiere" Snyder style breech system by the Belgians in 1867, sold surplus to French Fur Traders to the Native American Indians as an affordable shotgun. The firearm has a 32 ½ inch round barrel, walnut stock, external side hammer, front bead sight, and swinging breech loading mechanism. The piece is marked “ZULU” on the barrel at the front of the barrel band along with Belgian Liege barrel proof marks along and Belgian proof marks on the breech gate and rifle stock tang. These French Tabatiere Belgian breech loading firearms were traded to the Native American Indians from French fur traders in the 1860-1870’s. Some Indian adorned “Zulu” shotguns have sold such as the U.S. Standing Rock Indian Reservation 1889 Shotgun sold by North American Auction Company for $4,500 at their 6/3/2017 sale and the Montana Blackfoot Indian Tacked shotgun circa 1860- that sold for $1,800 at North American Auction Company’s 1/24/2015 sale (both shown with premiums). This takes an obsolete 2” shell and has a 32.5” barrel. Overall measures 49” in total length. This is an ANTIQUE FIREARM and requires NO FFL transfer and NO Background check.
