This is a wonderful hand crafted and etched copper Indian Trade Gorget. The piece comes has the original museum tag written in quill pen on early paper that reads, "No. 37550 Nat. Museum- Indian Trade Gorget Council Fire 1757 Fort Union - Joseph Richardson." The piece is from the National Museum and is made to commemorate the Council Fire and is from circa 1757. Rare piece showing an etched scene with a Fur Trader and a Native American Indian with a war club with wings in between the two. The scene also has a sun god with a face and great tree. Measures 5 1/8"x 4 7/8". The piece is displayed in a glass top black shadow box 8"x14.5" and 1 5/8".
