The piece features a carved Chief's Coup Stick or Staff from the Plains Native American Indians. The staff shows a carved wood construction with bent round end and forged spearhead on the base. The entire piece has a red mineral paint and is accented with brass trade tacks. Has a braided sinew strand running from top to bottom with turkey feathers every 5" or so. The piece is from the 19th century and shows overall good condition. From a private collection out of France. Overall measures 63.5" L with a 5 5/8" L x 1.5" W blade.
