The lot features a unique hide scraper adze from the Plains Native American Indians dating to the 1800's. The piece shows a napped flint scraper stone with excurvate blade that has been secured into a carved wood handle. The wooden handle has been worn and formed to the shape of the users hand from many years of use. This was most likely used by the woman of the tribe to clean off the Great American Bison Buffalo hides. The wood shows a nice deep patina and the piece overall is in good condition. Truly an unusual and rare piece. This piece measures 4 5/8" long by 1 3/4" wide and 2" tall.
