This is a Plains Native American Indian Hammer Poll Tomahawk with rare Eagle Head carved end. The weapon is believed to be from the late 19th century to early 20th century. This piece shows a hardwood haft having a brass plug and leather wrap securing it to the head with a red and black mineral ocher dyed spiral design. The tomahawk head is in an unusual and scarcely seen solid brass hammer poll pattern having the hammerpoll area being a carved Eagle effigy. The brass heads were highly desired by some tribes for their color even though they didn’t hold an edge as well as the iron head counterparts. The brass head has been moderately wiped with some of the early patina still showing. This comes with a a custom museum wrought iron display stand as shown. Measures overall 14.75”L with a 6 5/8”L x 2 1/8”W head that is 1.25”D. Display stand is 9”H x 11.5”W x 6.25”D. Review pictures for condition and description correctness.
