Plains Beaded Catlinite Pipe & Wood Stem 20th C
Featured in this lot is this 20th Century Native American Plains beaded and catlinite pipe with a wood stem. The pipe bowl is hand carved from Red Minnesota “pipestone” catlinite in the typical “T” shape and shows a nice red color. The bowl is accompanied with an ash wood stem showing leather wraps encasing a beaded section of forest green and light pink beads. Towards the mouth piece, raw hide strips hang freely and feature nicely shaped horn beads and copper or brass jingle cones. The pipe shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use, but no signs of obvious or major damage is noted. Catlinite piece is loosely connected but sits nice on the pipe stem. It measures 22 3/8" L x 1" W x 3 3/8" H and weighs 12 ounces.
