This is an excellent beaded blanket strip from the Plains Native American Indians from the 19th century. The piece is done on early canvas and trade clothe with a rich navy trade clothe border. The blanket strip shows excellent glass trade seed beadwork with a chalk white background and a unique two part pattern. The piece show two patterns with one side showing alternating floral pattern in greasy yellow, medium green, semi-transparent, semi-transparent pink, and sky blue all with a black stem. The other side shows a similar alternating floral pattern in sky blue, dark blue, Cheyenne pink, semi-transparent, semi-transparent red, and semi transparent pink with a black stem. The piece shows overall good condition for its age, but does have various fixed beaded areas (glued) and some bead loss. Measures overall 5"W x 46.5"L. Exceptional piece.
