The ledger starts with June 29, 1851, "people of the State of California vs Ira Faitman for "petil larceny". The case finished August 8, defendant "tried and acquitted." R.D. Hopkins, Dist. Attorney. The records here are various court cases numbered 1 - 142 (Nov. 20, 1855).
The cases involve local merchants, private businessmen, Indians, for things such as "malicious mischief, robbery, larceny, threat with deadly weapon, willful murder, fighting a duel, rape (#91, received 5 yrs in prison) and a wide assortment of crimes.
