Purple border, railroad vignette, punch and stamp cancelled. b) No. 20, issued to WH Vanderbilt for 1,000 shares in 1885. Not signed by Vanderbilt. Green border, coal vignette. Cut and stamp cancelled. WH Vanderbilt was the eldest son of Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt, an heir to his fortune and a prominent member of the Vanderbilt family. Vanderbilt became the richest American after he took over his father's fortune in 1877 until his own death in 1885. c) No. 2767, issued to William K. Vanderbilt in 1928. Signed on the reverse by Vanderbilt. Same design as b). William K. Vanderbilt was the great grandson of Cornelius Vanderbilt. He married (and divorced) Virginia Graham Fair, daughter of Comstock millionaire James G. Fair.
