Pipe tomahawk with cast brass and steel inlaid edge to blade on original pewter mounted and brass tacked shaft showing pierced heart decoration. Circa early 19th century. The head measures approx. 9-3/4” from tip of blade to end of bowl. Blade shows 3-1/8” across the edge and shows a well inlaid steel insert. The head shows some punch-dot decoration and a good dark patina. The shaft marries the head well and appears to have been with it its entire life and shows a pewter mouth piece, correct drilled holes for dangles, which are irregular. The shaft is hand-carved from hardwood and shows 8 tacks on each side. The shaft shows good patina and both the head and shaft are genuine to the 18th century. Est: $3,000 -6000
