Pipe tomahawk circa 1850 to 1870’s. Pierced blade, original tack shaft with hair ornaments and beaded and fringed drop. The head measures approx. 10” from end to end and 3-7/8” across the blade. The head is nicely made showing good quality forging and is original to the 19th century with some erosion and pinprick pitting. The shaft appears to be original to the period, the shaft marries the head well, the tacks are in good condition, there is some staining and normal use. The pipe has been smoked, the drop shows yellow and blue beadwork with quill work and fringe. The drop is in good condition with some slight losses to the quill. The shaft measures 22” in length. A very good looking pipe tomahawk with what appear to be Sioux bead-work. Est: $9,000 - $18,000
