Very rare; possibly the first one ever seen by us. Inc. in Nevada, November 1863. Location: Silver Wave Ledge, Lincoln District, Nevada Territory. While the certificate was issued in Virginia City on Feb. 18th, 1864, we do not believe this to be a Comstock mine. There was a Pioneer Mine located in North Virginia City (on the same line as the Utah), but FH never found a Lincoln Mining District on the Comstock. We were able to locate a Silver Wave Ledge (and mining company) in La Plata, Churchill County, 1864. It is thus likely this company is from there. La Plata was discovered in 1862/63. In 1864, the Silver Wave Mining Co. erected a ten-stamp mill. [Vanderburg, 1940]. This certificate is No. 70, issued to M.H. Minham (?) for ten shares. Allegorical vignette at left. Printed by Britton & Co., SF. Signed by the president (M. Kirkpatrick) and secretary (Griswald). Bent edges, otherwise very fine.

City: Churchill County
State: Nevada,
Date: 1864
