Featured in this lot is this Pima Bajo hand woven leather wrapped basket circa 1930's. The basket features a wonderfully and professionally crafted devil's claw and leather construction that shows tight vertical weaves to the coiled horizontal core with a wrapping strip of leather around the rim. Tohono O’odham (People of the Desert) are a Native American people of the Sonoran Desert, residing primarily in the U.S. state of Arizona and the northern Mexican state of Sonora. This basket was handmade using Native Plants such as Yucca, Beargrass, and Devils Claw. The condition of this of this basket shows some slight wear and discoloration due to age but otherwise shows well preserved condition. The measurements of this basket is 4" x 8" x 8 1/8". The collective weight of this basket is 8oz.
