<td width="100%">
Pillar & Scroll clock made by Mark Levenworth circa 1826, Waterbury, Connecticut. Several features of the Levenworth movement were considered improvements over the Terry movements as demonstrated by the works pictured here. Distinctive features are the rollers for the weight cords, diagonal escape wheel support, 6 plate pillars and gearing to allow clockwise rotation of the escape wheel. This clockwise rotating of the escape wheel is thought to represent the idea that Levenworth desired to adapt a second hand, at some point to this arbor. The works have been cleaned and are in excellent working condition (no broken or repair teeth). The Mahogany case has beautiful color and has been cleaned. Note, the arches have not been broken, tablet is original (with considerable flaking),The label is excellent, the clock face is exceptional and originial with no touch up or cracking. Weights, hands, and pendulum are also original, the crank is new.
