1859 This letter written by E.H. Fairchild home to his father and mother from Lawrence, Kansas Territory, Feb. 25, 1859. "I think it will be an early spring out here, there is no excitement but Pikes Peak around here. There are companies starting from Leavenworth every day or two and a party starts from here next Tuesday for the mines. As for me, I shant start till spring and then I'm off. The boats are running now on the Missouri river and bringing provisions for the mines in large numbers. I think grass will start about the first to the 10th of April and it will do to start about the 20th to the mines." With further discussion of sending mining tools. Much of the letter has mispelled words. It measures 12.5" x 7.95." Generally excellent, no cover. Fairchild is not mentioned as a Colorado Pioneer in Hall. Not listed in the 1859 Colorado Busienss Directory. Not listed in Colorado Biography. Lynn Langdon Collection - HKA#65543
