<B>Pierre Soule' Signed Book.</B></I> Pierre Soule' was in important figure in his time (1801 - 1870), but today is known only by serious historians and collectors of Civil War material. French-born, he served as U.S. Senator from Louisiana, U.S. Minister to Spain, co-author (with James Buchanan and John Young Mason) of the Ostend Manifesto of 1854 and CSA General on the staff of General Beauregard. This is a Presentation copy of the Report of the Commissioner of Patents For The Year 1849. Part II: Agriculture. (Washington, D.C.: Office of Printers to the Senate, 1850). Presented to H. G.
