This lot features the engraving 'Tom getting the best of a Charley'. A night scene on the east side of Temple Bar. Tom overturns a watchman's box, much to the alarm of the old watchman inside whose colleague raises the alarm. From Pierce Eganâ's Life in London; or, The Day and Night Scenes of Jerry Hawthorn. A work which was issued in monthly parts from October 1820 to July 1821. the engraving tell the tale of Jerry Hawthorn, and his elegant friend Corinthian Tom, accompanied by Bob Logic, The Oxonian, in their Rambles and Sprees through the Metropolis of London. The engraving is in good condition for its age, in frame. Measures: 9 3/4" H x 12 1/4" L
