Framed and in hand script under glass is- "Piece taken from coat Abe Lincoln wore the night he was assassinated." Accompanying that is a piece of birch bark. In handscript for that is- "Piece of birch taken from Chief Blackhawk's canoe." <p>This was originally bought at an auction in Iowa by a dealer in Quincy,Illinois. I bought this historic piece from that dealer approximately 15
years ago. I have done extensive research on this including a visit to examine the coat itself at Ford's Theater Museum in Washington, D. C.
Forensic fiber analysis was conducted by Randall R. Bresee , Associate Professor of Textile Science , University of Tennessee, Knoxville,Tennessee. <p>The piece comes from the shoulder area and contains blood. It may be examined at my location by appointment only. The extensive research will
also be available to peruse at that time. Please-only serious inquiries. <p> "It is quite possible that you do have a piece of the overcoat worn by President Abraham Lincoln on the night of his assassination. As you will
note on the enclosed papers, the bloodstained left sleeve of th coat was cut into small pieces after it had been given by Mrs. Lincoln to Alphonse Donn,a White House doorkeeper." Frank Hebblethwaite, Museum Technician, Ford's Theater December 11, 1987
