Engraving entitled "Louis XV et Mlles. de Nesle" depicting a country picnic after the hunt. The text on the print also reads: "Carl C. Vanloo, pinx., J. Hanriot, del et sc., Galerie A. Houssaye, Imp. Vve. A. Cadart, Paris." Carle Vanloo (1705 - 1765), a French painter and printmaker, was Premier Painter to the King under Louis XV and became a noble. He painted portraits of the royal family and decorated their apartments at Fontainbleau and Versailles. A similar oil painting by the same author is part of the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York. Signs of wear, tears and foxing on border can be partially covered by a mat at the time of framing. Please ask questions, request additional photos and shipping costs before bidding.
