Pickwick Abroad, by George Reynolds, 1839
REYNOLDS, GEORGE W. M. Pickwick Abroad; or, the Tour in France. London: Thomas Tegg; Glasgow: R. Griffin and Co.; Dublin: Tegg and Co.; Sidney and Hobart Town: J. and S. A. Tegg, 1839. 8vo. Original linear ribbed, blindstamped green cloth, embossed bands and gilt to spine, light yellow endpapers (appear to be replacements). Illustrated with Forty-one Steel Engravings, by Alfred Crowquill and John Phillips; and with Thirty-three Wood Cuts, by Bonner. Engraved title page, and facing engraving titled "Mr. Pickwick's Triumphant Entry to Paris." Includes Preface with quoted reviews.  Good-Very Good. The spine is bumped and slightly faded, gilt of lettering still fairly bright, a faded handwritten number (?) on the spine above title; slight staining and rubbing mostly to the back cover, small buckling of the cloth on front cover, corners bumped and slightly worn. The illustrated title page and facing engraving are very toned/foxed and somewhat faded (mostly the text within the engravings). Throughout, the text pages are mostly clean, with the engraving pages are all toned/foxed to varying degrees, some considerably. The yellow endpapers are very clean.
