This book begins by looking at a Roman wreck and a Viking wreck, but proceeds on to treasure wrecks, including the Dunwich Bank Wreck, the 'Blessing of Burntisland', the 'Royal James', the 'Kronan', the 'Golden Lion', the 'Carlisle', the 'tVliegent Hart' (called 'Vliegend Hert' in the book), the 'Guernsey Lily', the 'Lutine', and the 'Deutschland'. It also includes a chapter about the 'Wilhelm Gustloff' and the lost Amber Room. At the end of the book is a gazetteer, i.e., a brief overview of all the ships lost in the northern seas (North Sea and Baltic Sea, excluding the English Channel, the seas west of the Shetlands, and those off the western coast of Norway).
