Auction Details
This is an auction of original vintage historical photographs, narrower in focus than our regular catalog/internet auctions. It is primarily from a single-owner collection of Cartes de Visite of Civil War generals, and postcards and cabinet cards and some prints of American Indians. I have added some appropriate things, including some wonderful cabinet cards from prior Be-hold sales, now with a lower minimum bid. The descriptions of the Civil War subjects emphasize the pre-War and post-War experience of these military personnel, and will hopefully make the offerings of interest to a wider group of collectors than those whose interest is strictly in the Civil War. Great attention is paid to giving you a clear and accurate sense of the condition of the material. An explanation of our condition codes at the end of every entry, such as [3+], can be found at our website Be-hold.com. You will also find there a more extensive introduction to this material, and the historical context. Contact Be-hold at behold@be-hold.com or 914.423.5806 for further information.
