lot of 2 silver gelatin photographs showing the mounted cavalry and their camp, image 4.5" x 6.75" on larger 7.25" x 9.25" card stock mounts.

Fort Wingate was located near Gallup, New Mexico and built in 1862. The fort's original purpose was to control the Navajo to its north and became a staging point for "Long Walk to Bosque Redondo" and was a stopping point on the return walk.
