9" x 6.75" unmounted silver gelatin image, ca 1903, identified in the negative as No. 1 Bullfrog Discovery. An impressive image, showing a mule drawn stagecoach of the Concord style, followed by another open omnibus style coach, with canvas shade with printed Bullfrog and Goldfield Stage Line. The Bullfrog District, so named because of the greenish color of the gold ore, was discovered in 1903. The boom and bust cycle lasted a mere 11 years. By 1914, Bullfrog and nearby Rhyolite, the main town of the district, were abandoned. A scarce image.
