This is an original photography taken in 1903 Douglas, Wyoming of 9 Oglala Sioux Warriors, arrested for the murder of Sheriff William Miller at the Battle of Lightning Creek. Seven people died including Sheriff Miller, Chief Black Kettle, and Chief Eagle Feather. Warriors were photographed by Marsh of Douglas, Wyoming. This was the last Indian Wars confrontation and occurred 13 years after the Battle of Wounded Knee. This was the most bloody battle of the misunderstanding of Indians and Whites over hunting rights. Chief of the Sioux Eagle Feather led 25 men into Wyoming for hunting and encountered Sheriff William Miller ending in a bloody massacre. The piece is on photo studio board and original photo stock. Marked across the bottom. Exceedingly rare original authentic piece of Wyoming History. Museum quality. Overall measures 12"x10". The Indians in this photograph include (from bottom right to left): Iron Shield, Chief He Crow, Red Pin., High Bull, Broken Nose, High Dog, James White Elk, Charge Wolf, Jesse Little War Bonnet. All purchases must be removed from the auction site without damaging any property and within the time announced or posted. Sales Tax: All bidders will be subject to the local sales tax of auction location unless you provide our office with the documentation we require for exemption. Buyers will be responsible for procurement of plates and payment of taxes in their county and/or state of residence. Titles will be given day of sale if paid by Cash, Credit Card, or Certified Check. Company or Personal checks will take 7 days to clear before title will be released. Terms: All items sell AS IS - WHERE IS WITH ALL FAULTS and with no warranty of any type expressed or implied as to the merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose of any goods offered in this sale. All sales are made on an AS IS - WHERE IS WITH ALL FAULTS basis. All buyers are urged to physically inspect the item during the inspection period. No bids can be withdrawn after the auction for any reason. Consent to Suit in Montana. In the event of legal proceedings arising from this contract or from the auction in connection therewith, buyer consents to being subject to the personal jurisdiction of the courts of the State of Montana. Buyer also agrees that venue shall be in Gallatin County, Montana and that the laws of the State of Montana shall govern this Agreement and the parties' transaction hereunder. The BUYER expressly agrees to indemnify and save the Auction Co., Seller and their assigns harmless from and against all claims, losses, expenses, damage or liability, (including, but not limited to, attorney's fees), directly or indirectly caused by or resulting from Buyer's negligent acts or omissions or breach of this agreement, except for damages caused by or resulting from the Auction Co.'s sole negligence. All items must be paid for prior to removal; if storage arrangements are not made in advance of bidding on items. Storage will start March 22th 2015 and will be charged $10 per day per item. If there is a dispute on the authenticity of an item, the only professional opinion that will be considered is from a curator of a well-known museum. We do our best to represent items; this is an auction with NO warranties or returns. Do not bid unless you agree to all of the terms above. By bidding you are acknowledging agreement with the terms above.
