<td width="100%">
This original albumen photograph, approx 1890s, is of a native American man in full war bonnet. It was purchased in Utah. The 4 3/4" by 6 3/4" photo is applied to heavy 8 x 10 stock. The clear view of the face matches the photo of Sitting Bull, Sioux Indian Chief, on page 568 in the reference work entitled Dictornary of American Portraits, ISBN # 03-6 and can be found at large book stores or libraries. We are not guaranteeing that this is the famous Chief even tho reputable appraisers think so. We are guaranteeing that it looks remarkably like Sitting Bull. We have supplied the picture of Sitting Bull from the Dictionary of American Portraits (the one with someone else in the picture) so you can decide for yourself. CONDITION: There is some age oxidation but the detail is extremely clear. The leaves and bark of the tree, the twigs on the ground and especially the face have remarkable detail. At the center of the very bottom there is a tiny white spot. You can't feel the edges and it doesn't look like a ear. There is nothing on the reverse. The corners are originally rounded.
