Phokis. Federal coinage. Hemiobol, second half of the 5th century BC. AR 0.27 g., 5¢. A bull’s head and neck in profile to l. Rev. Corinthian helmet to left, placed diagonally in an incuse square. Dies not in Williams, style and fabric suggest section 21 rather than section 19. Unknown to Williams with helmet left. Extremely rare. The only other such hemiobol variety known is offered above as lot 199. A die flaw above the helmet on the reverse, otherwise in good metal and very fine.
