Number 4693 for 100 shares on January 27, 1899. . Incorporated in 1886. Signed by president Clark(?) and secretary Hopkins. This is an extremely handsome certificate. Uncancelled. Nice vignette of men working in underground mining scene. Small illustration of a bald eagle at bottom-center. Green border and under print. Printed by ABC. Was a reorganization of the Phoenix MC. Burchard states that the Phoenix mine is the most promising mine in the district. The ledge was gold bearing quartz of large dimensions, and was profitably worked by the arrester in years past. Development work already done was said to show a half million dollars worth of ore in sight. The mine was eventually purchased by the Phoenix MC of New York. It was said to be the intensions of the company to erect a 100-stamp mill, shortly after purchase. Competent mining engineers gave assurance that it could readily supply a mill of this capacity, after a thorough examination. This would be the first 100-stamp mill of the territory, the next in size the Vulture mill of 80-stamp capacity (Ref: E&MJ, 1887, p.128; 1887, p.77; 1898, p.649).
