On sale is a very rare "Philistine Scarab Seal" circa 1,200B.C. to 800B.C. This exquisite scarab is from our private collection and its original provenance is from southern Lebanon. Featured is a bored and carved, light colored steatite scarab seal. The rolled out the scarab reveals two stylistic figures that are likely the Philistine versions of the Egyptian gods of Horus and Isis. The scarab center has a cartouche crowned with two feathers of Maat, the Egyptian goddess of truth. Canaanite scarabs and scaraboid seals are highly coveted and rare. This quality piece is in superb condition and wearable.
