British statesman, diplomat, man of letters, and an acclaimed wit of his time (1694–1773). Third-person ALS, signed within the text, "Lord and Lady Chesterfield," one page, 7.25 x 9.25, no date but circa 1765. In part: "Lord and Lady Chesterfield present their respects to the Duke and Dutchess of Newcastle. They are very sorry that any return of Her Grace's complaint should oblige her to take a Bath Journey which they believe is not very agreeable to her, but of which however they will profit." In fine condition, with two light circular stains.
