King of Spain (born 1527) from 1556 until his death in 1598; his eventful reign included Spain’s conquest of the Philippines (named for him), the establishment of a colony in Florida, and the historic defeat of the Spanish Armada by the British in 1588. Manuscript DS, in Latin, signed “Yo El Rey (I the King),” one page, 22.5 x 10.5, April 1, 1571. Philip signs a nomination of Aurelio Ghiffo Jacino as an official of Milan in the place of Battista Facino, who is now deceased. Signed at the conclusion in ink by the king. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, two through single letters of signature, scattered light creasing and wrinkling, with just a bit affecting signature, and some trivial paper loss along storage folds. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
