Lorenzo Thomas, Adjutant General of the US Army, in full: "I have the honor to report that I have this day relieved from duty Captain John F. Lacy, Assistant Adjutant General and ordered him to proceed to his place of residence, and from there to report by letter to you." In fine condition. Accompanied by an engraved portrait bearing a facsimile signature. A desirable letter sent from New Orleans in the immediate aftermath of the Civil War.
