LS signed “P. H. Sheridan,” one page, 7.75 x 10, September 16, 1859. Brief letter to General Thomas Jesup, in full: "I have the honor to enclose herewith a supplemental report of Persons and Articles Employed etc. for the months of May and Sept. 1857." In very good to fine condition, with faint staining to the left side. A desirable association piece connecting two notable Union Army officers.

Thomas Jesup was a United States Army officer (1788–1860) who is known as the 'Father of the Modern Quartermaster Corps.' His 52-year (1808–1860) military career was one of the longest in the history of the United States Army.
