This is a WOW cert with both the good and the bad. The good is the vignette. It is entitled, "Discovery Tunnel of the Phila. Sil. Min. Co. of Nv." Spectacular. The bad is the left third of the cert has been torn off and is now held in place with tape. # 93 for 2 shares to Thomas Staudbudge. Located August district. Signed by Elwood Mitchell and John Verru as president. Dateline Philadelphia April 16, 1868. Scrolled in hard to read silver underprint is 'Phila. Silver Mining Co.' 25c Certificate Revenue stamp. Not cancelled. C Reen printer. Outside of rip, nice condition. This company was originally called the El Dorado Mining Company and was incorporated in May of 1864. The name was changed in 1866. "Todd and Welton (1866) placed the historic Augusta district in this area, east of the present Bernice district. The General Land Office map (1866) shows the Augusta district to cover most of the central Clan Alpine Mountains, including Augusta Canyon and the present Tungsten Mountain district."
