Phenomenal (London) Cased Colt 1851 Navy Revolver
Serial # 168163 Offered is an incredible condition London cased Colt Model 1851 Navy revolver with a standard 7-1/2" barrel, .36 caliber, blued-brass finish, and wood stocks. It is identified as a London Colt by evidence of the letter "L" which is stamped under or above each serial number on the gun while the barrel still has the New York stamp. In addition, the barrel and cylinder are stamped with the English proof marks. The brass backstrap and trigger guard were never plated. This revolver remains in phenomenal, almost unused condition. The barrel retains approximately 90% or better of the original factory high polish blue finish. The cylinder has a perfect Naval scene and retains at least 80% of its original high polish blue finish. Virtually all of the case colors remain on the frame and loading lever, as well as the hammer. The trigger retains much of the original fire blue finish, as do the barrel screws. The varnished walnut grips are near mint. The brass, which was never factory plated, remains in a fine toned uncleaned patina. The barrel address is stamped "New York, U.S., America", not London. The factory case is in superb condition, still retaining the majority of the Colt directions in the lid. All partitions and green felt are original and in excellent condition. Accessories include a near mint Colt marked bullet mold, a blued nipple wrench, has a Dixon&Son stamped brass powder flask, an Ely cap tin, a nickel plated cleaning rod, the original case key, and some conical bullets. An incredible English exported 1851 Navy in original condition seldom seen in today's market.
