Impressive color limited edition 29.5 x 88 screenprint diptych by Peyton Scott Russell, entitled 'Red Wine,' numbered 5/5, signed in the lower border in pencil by the artist, "Peyton," and marked with a copyright date of 1996. This artwork portrays a red surreal landscape with a high vertical atmosphere and spiritual figures occupying the space in a very organic nature. This work was originally created for Prince's Glam Slam nightclub, but it closed prior to 1996. Each individual sheet of the two-piece diptych measures 29.5 x 44. In fine condition.

Minneapolis-based graffiti artist Peyton Scott Russell is especially well-known for his association with Prince, who he first met during the 1990s. Peyton was given the opportunity to exhibit his work at Prince's Glam Slam nightclub beginning in 1993. In 1996, Peyton was commissioned to help redecorate Paisley Park for Prince's wedding to Mayte Garcia. Peyton's impressive large-format prints offer a fusion of Warhol-esque technique with a distinctly modern aesthetic.
