?Petunias II, Black? Original Ink Drawing by Margaret L. Neill
<p>
Amazing artist, Margaret L. Neill?s has created original ink drawing entitled, ?Petunias II, Black?. This work displays a beautiful illustration of blooming petunias in silhouette. Neill?s use of silhouette, as in many of her drawings and paintings, creates a dramatic contrast between the objects in the composition and the light backgrounds she chose to compliment them. In this particular piece the viewer finds the petunias within the composition standing in a pale mint green background creating a stark contrast. Two open blooms were drawn with close attention to detail in an almost stylized manner, as were the buds and leaves growing from the central stem. Neill signed and dated the back of the painting and it reads, ?Margaret L. Neill, Sept. 11 1936, No. 3.?

The piece was matted in black to add further contrast and depth and mounted in a deep charcoal black frame with slight gold antiquing and ribbed carving to add rich texture to the composition. The unique matting and framing presentation of this piece was individually selected and created by Le Chateau?s renowned master framer, Jeanette Shoenrock, and bears her signature on the back. Including the gorgeous frame this piece measures 12 ¾? x 15 ¾? and would be a stunning addition to any collection and an affordable way to add a bit of drama to any room in your house.
