Included in this lot is a framed Peters Cartridge Company advertising poster. Gershom Moore Peters began working at the Great Western Powder Works in 1881 and became president of the powder company when his father in law King died in 1885. Peters formed the Peters Cartridge Company at Kings Mills in 1887. The company was manufacturing four-thousand cartridges per hour by 1889. The poster reads “steel where steel belongs – use Peters Loaded Shells”. The image depicts a pheasant rooster protecting a covey of hens. The boarder shows fancy scroll work and house the Peters trademark “P”. The poster measures 19 ½” x 29 ½” and the frame measures 24” x 33 ¾”.
