Handpainted two-handled porcelain vase titled "The Nelson Vase," created to commemorate the bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar (1805-2005). One side features a detailed hand-painted portrait of Vice Admiral Lord Nelson in full uniform, with medal decorations and a vibrant naval backdrop. The reverse depicts a dramatic maritime battle scene with tall ships engaged in combat. The vase is richly decorated with a deep cobalt blue ground and intricate gold gilding in a rope and star motif. The rim bears the inscription "To Celebrate the Bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar. 1805-2005." Twin handles are shaped with scrolling foliate accents and finished in gold. The base is marked "Handpainted China by Peter Smith, Stoke-on-Trent" and is signed "Peter Smith 2005."
