All 100% original art done by master artist Peter Max. Includes Peter Max archive number C10447. Produced exclusively for Japanese galleries Tsumara Illusion Inc., The largest art retailer in Japan. This piece was acquired directly from the Peter Max studio. The pastel color tones are a unique use of subtle colors. Note the label on the back of the frame written in Japanese, The title was translated and converted to English after its return to America. The frame has some minor blemishes. About Peter Max:
Born in Berlin, Germany in 1937, Peter Max was raised in Shanghai, China, where he spent the first ten years of his life. He lived in a pagoda-style house situated near a Buddhist monastery, a Sikh temple, and a Viennese cafe. With all that richness and diversity of culture, he still had a dream of an adventure yet to come in a far-off land called America. From American comic books, radio broadcasts, and cinema shows, young Peter formed an impression of the land of Captain Marvel, Flash Gordon, swing jazz, swashbucklers, freedom, and creativity. In 1953, Peter's family emigrated to America after a six-month visit to Paris. During this relatively short stay, Peter enrolled in an art school and began to absorb the culture and artistic heritage of Paris. At the age of sixteen, he realized his childhood fantasy and arrived in America. After completing high school, Max continued his art studies at The Art Student's League, a renowned traditional academy across from Carnegie Hall in Manhattan. Here, he learned the rigid disciplines of realism and developed into a Realist painter. As a portraitist for four former U.S. Presidents (Carter, Ford, Bush, Sr., and Reagan), Max was approached by the inaugural committee in 1993 to create posters for Bill Clinton's inauguration. He was later invited to the White House to paint the signing of the Peace Accord. Aside from his years as a Realist painter, Max's true station as an artist is that of a Pop Art visionary. The boldly-colored and vibrant color techniques of his "Cosmic '60s" style are recognizable around the world. A combination of Expressionism and Pop Art, his work is often dedicated to the country he has loved since his youth, and the Statue of Liberty and the American flag often feature prominently in his paintings. Max also cares passionately about the environment and human rights and has designed and dedicated paintings and posters to increase international awareness of these causes. In 1999, Max was commissioned to paint a Boeing 777-200ER super jet for Continental Airlines to commemorate New York City's New Year's celebrations, and usher in the new millennium, (it has since been repainted). And just recently, he completed work on an incredible 40,000 square foot mural that adorns the hull of Norwegian Cruise Lines newest ship - the Norwegian Breakaway. The mega-sized ship will be the largest ship to ever launch out of New York for her maiden voyage in May 2013. The multi-themed, vibrantly colored masterpiece is a retrospective-type mosaic of some of Max's most iconic images such as Liberty Head, the skyline of New York and a splash of galaxy-inspired themes.
Max has also been the official artist for many major events including, among others, the World Cup, the Grammy Awards, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Super Bowl. Whether viewing Peter Max's realist portraits, Expressionist paintings, or Pop Art creations, one is left without a doubt that he is an artistic luminary of the twentieth century.

The winning bidder is responsible for the cost of shipping. The winning bidder will pay our cost to ship the order. We do not charge a handling fee. Multiple items won by the same bidder will be shipped together to keep the cost of shipping to a minimum.

A bid being placed on an auction item is an agreement to the auction terms and conditions as explained below. Pristine Auction is a JCK Enterprises L.L.C. company.
Bidder Registration: All bidder's must be 18 years of age or older to participate in the auction. Pristine auction reserves the right to suspend a registered user and/or cancel the bid of a registered user for any reason.
Bidding: Minimum bid increment is 5% of the current high bid. Bids are accepted 24 hours a day directly through our website (www.pristineauction.com). Our site will automatically generate and send an e-mail when a bidder is outbid on an auction. This is provided as a courtesy service to our bidders and is a non-guarantee service. Although rare, it is possible for our site to encounter interruptions in service or malfunctions. We reserve the right to suspend, cancel, or extend auctions that have been affected by such an occurrence. At the end of each auction, winning bidders will be notified as soon as possible via e-mail. Extended Bidding: Our auction timer corresponds with Eastern Standard Time. All auctions are set up with a 10 minute extended bidding period. The extended bidding period is initiated once an auction countdown is below 10 minutes. During the extended bidding period, all new bids reset the auction countdown to 10 minutes. An auction ends when no new bids are entered for a full 10 minutes. Each auction is on an independent timer so auctions will end at different times.
Returns: All items are shown and described to the best of our ability. Please ask any necessary questions before placing a bid. Items authenticated by an industry recognized third party authenticator may not be returned. Items accompanied by a Pristine Auction LOA can be returned for authenticity purposes if they have been reviewed and rejected by an acceptable authenticator. Acceptable authenticators are as follows: PSA/DNA, JSA, Global Authentics, or PAAS. All auction sales are final except in very limited circumstances (as described above or if a lot is grossly misrepresented). If winning bidder believes a lot was misrepresented he/she must contact us within 7 days of receipt of the lot with written explanation of the alleged gross error. If it is deemed that a gross error has occurred, it is the Buyer's responsibility to return the lot in question within seven (7) days of notice or evaluation.
Reserve: We reserve the right to place a reserve on auctions. Reserves are determined before the start of an auction. If bidding does not meet or exceed the predetermined reserve price, the lot will be returned to the consignor or relisted into a future auction.
Auction Cancellation: We reserve the right to cancel an auction at any time for any reason.
Disputes: If any disputes arise, legal action will go before the AAA (American Arbitration Association) and will take place in Arizona. By bidding on the auction (and thus agreeing to our auction policies) the right to trial by jury in any and all legal disputes is forfeited.
