Entirely unique Festival International de Jazz de Montreux diploma award, 11.5 x 11.75, presented to Led Zeppelin for the Grand Prize record “‘Physical Graffiti,’ Swan Song 89400–0,” dated May 31, 1975. Signed in the lower portion by five festival board members, with an award label in the lower right corner, (translated) “Grand Prize Montreux Jazz Record.” In very good condition, with scattered creasing and foxing, and two tears to right edge (repaired on the reverse with scotch tape). Consignor notes that the award originates from the property of the band’s renowned manager Peter Grant, a driving force behind the establishment of Swan Song Records a year prior; Grant served as the label’s president for its nine-year run. Physical Graffiti was the third record launched from Swan Song, and was immediately commercially and critically successful upon its release on February 24, 1975.
