Converted back to its original flintlock configuration, this rifle features fixed sights on a barrel marked "P. GONTER" on the top flat. The lock plate is marked "DREPPERT". In Frank Sellers' book AMERICAN GUNSMITHS, Peter Gonter is listed as having worked in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, from 1768 to 1818 and is well known among collectors. The trigger guard, patch box, buttplate, and ramrod pipes are brass. Plain trigger and mounted with a full length curly maple stock with a crescent buttplate and three stock wedges.

Condition: Good as converted to flintlock. The barrel has a smooth dark patina with some minor spotting near the muzzle. The lock plate has a smooth gray patina with a darker patina on the hammer. There is some minor flash pitting on the barrel which extends to the action. The brass has a polished appearance. The stock has some small missing chips (large chip near the lock), a series of minor dings on both sides of the forearm under the rear sight, and a few hairline cracks and repairs, along with some minor handling marks.
